First, creating an atmosphere of studying at home. It is very important to create conditions or a family atmosphere conducive to study, among them we can highlight: - A place to study, away from noise, with adequate lighting (a table lamp), a back chair, a bookshelf to place books and other study tools and a large table. In the room should not do either very hot (sleepy) or cold (deconcentration).
- Promoting values \u200b\u200band habits, such as effort, favoring that is a hard worker, steady, strong-willed. This is important to instill good study habits in this age mean daily work (a couple of hours) and generally at the same time. We must ensure that home study is a routine. To this must be avoided at that time have other tasks to perform or study with the TV set or open internet, music, etc.
- providing the necessary means for the study: dictionaries, reference books, encyclopedias or information via the Internet, access to the local library, etc.
- Doing activities leisure time with family relationship to the world of culture: reading books and magazines, visiting museums or exhibitions, attend cultural activities, etc. Encouraging activities in their spare time to develop their musical culture, learning another language or physical activity or manual.
Second ACTING as a role model: Parents are the first and most important model in which the sons and daughters will look, so the example is the best teaching. It is important for parents to show interest in culture and have read books, newspapers and magazines at home and talk and talk in the family on these and other things.
Third, COLLABORATING With the tutor of her sons and daughters. If you are doing well in school, a midterm interview may be sufficient. If you have difficulties, or suspending certain subjects, it should go once a month and agree with the teachers some measures for improvement. In our center we offer the teaching commitment by signing an agreement for improvement among all stakeholders (teachers, students and parents).
Fourth, encourage them to study using study skills. Many problems of students are due to poor storage, to study immediately before the test and not using a proper procedure to understand what has been studied. Therefore, if parents have knowledge on the subject would be useful to help their sons and daughters in this task and, if not so, learn about and support the actions from the tutorials or from each subject teacher performs. In the center all the courses we work with our students this issue through the booklet "Learning to Learn" which are then in possession of the students and their families.
Fifth, encourage and supervise the study. Encouraging progress means recognizing how small they are, appreciate the efforts and reinforce good behavior study. Monitor means being aware of what they do, monitor their work habits, avoid the jump, know how to go at school talking to the tutor or guardian, review the agenda frequently, etc.. Monitor also means applying positive consequences (rewards) or negative (punishment) as performed.
